Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell started as an TV reporter and radio reporter within Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Then she became a reporter with the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. She was promoted to Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. The first time she covered the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent within the year 1988. She was named the Chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a guest on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist as well as host. Mitchell joined the panel in 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was the ex-chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering at the White House in 1981-1988 for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-contra controversy and tax reform. Mitchell traveled with President Ronald Reagan in numerous visits to world summits and reported often.
